February Meeting:

February 12, 2018  7pm
Parkview Church of Christ
1912 Burbank Rd.
Wooster, OH  44691

President's February Greeting

Happy February,  the sun has been shining more, the temperatures  have warmed and the days are getting longer.  THINK  SPRING!
Hopefully, Mother Nature will co-operate this month and we will be able to get started.
While the weather has been cold, I hope all of you have been busy getting your quilts ready for the show.  You will have a
great opportunity at the No Frills Retreat where you will have two days  to work on your projects without interruptions. Don't forget to get the word out there about our show and sell those raffle tickets.
I have several challenges set up for you and you will still need to bring that quart size baggie of scraps to the meeting.  If you forget yours we will have some extras on hand.  The scraps should be at least 2" or more.
I am looking forward to seeing all of my quilting friends again and getting started with this year.  We have a lot going on and hopefully, something for everyone.

Keep warm, stay well and  quilt on! Kay
From the VP:  Hope you are having a great winter hunkered down in from the cold and quilting.  I have a few things that I wanted to share with you.  First I took 34 dog beds to the Wayne County Dog Shelter a week or so ago.  This was made possible by you and your donations of scraps and pillow cases.  Thank you all for that.  The Shelter is very appreciative.
Secondly I have decided to close my shop and will no longer be quilting as a business.  I will still do community work for those who have given quilts to me in the past, but will not be running a business.  Stay in, Stay Warm and SEW  Kim Panter

2018 QUILT SHOW

Our show will be here before you know it.   The dates are Friday April 20 from 9am to 6pm and Saturday April 21, from 9am to 3:30pm.

Here are a couple reminders:
Sell those raffle tickets!  If you need more contact Jeri Fickes, 330-201-0932

Two challenges have been designed for the show:

Applique Challenge - Floral Applique Item of your choice.  Hand or machine applique.  Quilter's interpretation.   (The planning team reserves the right to split the entries into more categories as needed.)
Garden Party Challenge- Floral themed item.  The pattern and/or fabric should have a floral design.  (Again, the team reserves the right to split entries into additional categories.)  Quiltmakers' interpretation.

At February meeting the committee will be prepared to hand out category information.  We are asking this year the quilt story forms that will be displayed on the quilts be turned in typed and ready to hang with the quilts.  In the near future we will be e-mailing a template for your use.  If you do not have access to a computer and printer, we will have an alternative plan for you.

Keep those needles in motion.  We are anticipating another great show.  Jeri and Laura

The guild has some flannel and woven fabrics (at moment residing in my basement), rag quilt clippers and Accucut machines available to use at the workshop.  Members can bring fabric to donate to the Feb. meeting or bring with them to the workshop.  We plan to be organized with cutting, sewing and pressing stations.  Yes, bring your machines.  The best fun will be working with what fabrics we have to create beautiful items.
