PRESIDENT’S GREETING: June
Welcome to June, Tree City Quilters!  What a great Party we had at our May meeting, I was so happy to see former members come and enjoy our company. I hope they will decide to come back as members.  I want to thank the 25th year committee for all their hard work. And Jane for the wonderful pins.  And with a new Tree City Quilt.
For our June meeting I have a friend of mine Nancy Tester coming to give us a trunk show of her wonderful wool quilts. She has taken lessons from Sue Spargo and joined her monthly projects group. Sit back and enjoy her wool and hand embroidery embellished quilts. Nancy is willing to do a workshop if anyone is interested.

Applique Challenge - Floral Applique Item of your choice.  Hand or machine applique.  Quilter's interpretation.   (The planning team reserves the right to split the entries into more categories as needed.)
Garden Party Challenge- Floral themed item.  The pattern and/or fabric should have a floral design.  (Again, the team reserves the right to split entries into additional categories.)  Quiltmakers' interpretation.

TIPS AND TRICKS
Attend as many educational events that you can afford!  Ask questions of your fellow quilt guild friends.
Experiment with small projects; try a beautiful rayon thread, or combine a metallic thread with a normal thread, try a heavier thread……see what you like and what works for you!
Sew table runners to try out patterns and quilting.  They’re small and easy to finish.
Create a regular sewing date with 1 or 2 friends.  Then, stick to those dates.  You’ll soon finish a project.
If you have 10 minutes; wind bobbins
If you have 15 minutes, cut out pieces for your new quilt

PRESIDENT’S GREETING: May
Happy May Tree City Quilters
Are we ready to party? Let’s celebrate our 25 years! I know we are in for an exciting evening, just being with each other and enjoying the day will be fun, remember that we are starting early.
I love the spring with all the wild flowers that bloom in my woods, I was walking in the woods two days ago looking for the bellwort it only blooms in one little spot in my woods but I always have to search for the spot. The dog went over the rise and I could see her tail wagging, I called to her then she looked up, she was covered in swamp muck. Needless to say I did not find my flowers we had an unplanned bath to do.

TIPS AND TRICKS
·         Try out Jeri’s “wasteless” flying Geese; actually doing the method will help you learn it
·         Sign up for a class somewhere; the more you join others in a class, the more you will learn and get better at your preferred hobby!
·         If you pin something on Pinterest…..try it or make it!  Don’t just be a collector of pins!
·         Talk to people at the TCQ meeting!  You have a wealth of knowledge in that room every month.  If you have a question, chances are someone else does, too.
·         Start a class of your own.  Ask a couple other people from the Guild to join you and sew together.  You’ll have fun, help each other and get something accomplished!
