LET'S GET STARTED

President's January Greeting

Happy New Year Quilters...Now that the tree is down, the packages are all unwrapped and the living room is put back in order, it is time to think about those New Year's Resolutions.  I hope the one that is on the top of your list is "to become active in your guild and enjoy all that it has to offer".  Think about signing up for a committee, attend a retreat or work the quilt show.  These are ways to get to know the members of your guild and makes  our guild grow.

Congratulations to Mary Mahoney as our "Quilter of the Year".  Thank you, Mary, for all that you do for the guild.

As we start this new year, I invite you to join me in taking a step "out of the box" and explore some new challenges with colors, methods and techniques.  My theme for 2018 is "Let's Get Started".

Refreshment Committee For January Meeting

Kathy Ott, Carol Remington, Sally Kitchen

Please bring a quart size baggie of scraps to the January Meeting.  We are going to PLAY!

Happy Quilting, Kay

Minutes from December Party

Sarah welcomed members and guests and happy birthday was sung
to members who had a December birthday.
Jeri asked if anyone would like to volunteer to help at the X-pro
April 4,5 and 6 2018. You would be able to help out and we could
sell raffle tickets for our quilt show. If you have any questions
please talk to Jeri.
Michelle talked about the no frills retreat March 17 & 18. It will be
here in town. Cost is $10 a day or $15 for both days. Registration
is open till January 8 at our meeting. Then it will be open for anyone
There will be two classes if you would like to take them. (1) witch wall
hanging (2) Santa Clause taught by Becky. Cost is $5 per class.
Mary is in charge of the work shops and if you would like to teach
a class let her know.
Please let Bev by December 31 if you are renewing your membership.
You can mail her your check.
Congratulations to Mary Mahoney voted quilter of the year. Mary
thanks for all you do.
Looking forward to the year ahead. If you would like to sign up for
a committee or refreshments let Kay know by December 31. So
it can be put in the membership book. Remember to bring a
quart size bag of fabric scraps to the January 8 meeting.
Merry Christmas 🎄 and have a safe New Year.
See you January 8, 2018

Note from Shirley Rodgers:   What a great Christmas party. Thanks Kay and the Christmas committee.  Ladies you did a great job. The food was excellent as usual. The singing and gift exchange was fun. We need to make a cook book with such great cooks we have in the guild.

Tree City Quilters' Guild Paradise in Bloom Quilt Show reminders:

Our show will be here before you know it. The dates of the show are Friday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Here are a couple reminders:

Sell those raffle tickets! If you need more, contact Jeri Fickes, 330-201-0932.

There are two challenges. The first is an applique challenge--a floral applique item of your choice, hand or machine. The second is Garden Party, a floral themed item. The pattern and/or fabric should have a floral design.

At January's guild meeting the committee will be prepared to hand out category information. We are asking this year that the quilt story forms that will be displayed on the quilts, be turned in typed and ready to hang with the quilts. In the near future we will be e-mailing a template for your use. If you do not have access to a computer and printer, we will have an alternative plan for you.

Keep those needles in motion! We are anticipating another great show!

Jeri and Laura

Happy New Year from your rookie newsletter writer.  Any errors are mine as I learned to cut and paste and hopefully not delete anything important.  I know I am going to enjoy doing the newsletter with your help. A big thank you to Barb for doing the Newsletter for many years.  Ruth
