February Newsletter

Tree City Quilt Guild
February, 2020 Newsletter

President’s Letter
January was filled with beginning-of-the-year housekeeping duties as the TCQs Board organized our 2020 committees and started planning programs and classes and activities for the year. We encourage each of you to participate in at least one committee which will give you a chance to get to know some of our other members. And our 2020 membership books are at the printer and should be ready for you at the Feb. meeting.
February brings us two special Saturday quilting classes. February 1 is “National Quilt of Valor” Day. We thank Denise Snyder for volunteering to lead this program for us. I hope each of you will participate in some way this year in our QOV recognition. This is a lovely way to honor our Service men and women. And February 15 Kay Nixon will lead a Beginning Quilting Class for our members who are just beginning their quilting adventures. Even if you are not a beginning quilter, you might stop in at the class to see if you can help Kay in any way that day.  One of our goals this year is to encourage all our members to participate in TCQs events, no matter what their quilting level may be.
I found this quote and wanted to share it with you:
I will embrace the joys that quilting imparts -
Of friendship, fun and sharing that cheers and fills our hearts.
And when I’m no more a beginner, I won’t hold in disdain
Those who know less than I do—who knows what heights they may attain?

We were all beginners once, weren’t we?
                                                                              Happy quilting!  -Marilyn
A Note from Marilyn:  TCQ Interest Survey: At the January meeting, postcards were distributed to everyone to gather information concerning quilting experience, machines being used, quilting interests, class requests and teacher volunteers. If you missed the January meeting, please pick up a card at the registration table at the February meeting, fill it out and hand it to one of our officers that evening.
Note from Shirley Rodgers:  please contact her or Jane Richardson if you know of a member who would benefit from outreach from the Sunshine Committee.
