President's Greeting
Hard to believe that it is May already, 2019 is flying by so fast. I have been super busy getting ready for our big move to Florida. Packing Donating, cleaning and house hunting. I am sad to say I will not be at the meeting this month. My husband planned a house hunting/birthday trip for me to Florida and again the dates conflict with the meeting. Marilyn will be leading you though and I am sure she will do a great job.
Karen Benke from the Little Red Quilt Shop is scheduled to come and do a program for us and she will also be vending so plan maybe to come a bit early and peruse her goods.
I haven’t gotten much sewing done lately with everything else going on but hope to get to some soon. I am sad that I won’t be participating in next years quilt show, but I do plan on taking a trip to come and see the show! I am sure it will again be a great one.

2019 Tree City Quilters Ugly Fabric Challenge
This Challenge will start at the February meeting and finish for the July Meeting. To participate in this challenge you need to get that one fabric out of your stash. You know the one I am talking about. That FABRIC. The one you saw that you HAD to have. You bought it, you took it home and added it to your stash. And there it sat.
Now you get into your stash to look at fabrics for a new project and you pick up that FABRIC! And you sigh and say “what was I thinking when I bought this?, JUST WHAAAT! It doesn’t go with anything, the colors are awful, its just not my taste.”
Take a yard of that fabric and place it in a brown paper bag and bring it to the next meeting. All of the brown paper bags will be placed on a table. Everyone participating will choose a bag (not their own) and make a quilt using that ugly fabric. The rules for the making of your quilt will be read at the next meeting.

Below from our members, thank you!
Following, from Mary Mahoney on show committee, about entering items from the various classes offered by the Tree City. Quilt Guild
It's a good idea to keep a list of the quilts you would like to submit for our 2020 quilt show. Please note as well, if that quilt was made from a workshop you took with our guild. We do have a category for workshop quilts and we'd like to keep them together at the show. Here is a list of the 2018 workshops to help you remember what might qualify in this category:Pat Hall's Rug classKay Nixon's Fabric bowl workshopLaura Noletti's Convex Illusion classStacie Miller's Market Bag & Mary Mahoney's No Sew Gift Bag classLaura Noletti's Paper Pieced Animal pattern workshopShirley Roger's 5 yard quilt
Vicky and committee Would like those who participated in the retreat to bring their projects, even if not nearly finished for show and tell at the next guild meeting?
