PRESIDENT’S GREETING: October
Hello Tree City Quilters
Another Month has flown by with that unbearable heat wave, who would have thought we would be still wearing our summer clothes, the end of September!
I really enjoyed our speaker last month Kim Humrichouser I loved all her little quilts. This month we have Kathy Karus coming to talk about the code quilts from the civil war. This should be intresting; I have heard she puts on a great program.
Keep working on your UFO’s, that way we will be ready for our quilt show next April. Remember our Quilt show is 7 months away!
I heard that the workshop at Some Where Sewing was wonderful. A big thanks, to everyone that organized that event.
The Election for new officers and board members is November I urge members become involved more with our guild, we are growing and enjoying the friendship that is intertwined in our guild. Volunteer for an office it just takes a little time and getting to know fellow members is priceless.

ITALIAN SAUSAGE AND CABBAGE BAKE
(comfort-in-a-pot!!)
Chop 1 large head of cabbage into bite-size pieces.
(I cooked mine in a bit of boiling, salted water for about 15 min and drained in
large colander because I didn't have 3+ hours to bake the casserole)
1-2 lbs bulk or linked Italian sausages (if links, remove casings)
1-2 carrots, sliced thin
1-2 onions, sliced thin
small container of grape tomatoes, halved
4 T butter
Large casserole dish sprayed with cooking spray
Pre-heat oven to 375*. Layer 1/2 the cabbage in the casserole. Slice bits of 2T of butter over all. Top with 1/2 the carrots, the onions, crumbled bits of uncooked sausage, and the tomatoes. Lightly salt after tomatoes have been added. Repeat layers. Bake, covered, for about 2 hours. Remove lid and finish baking for another 20-30 minutes. If you can bake this for several hours there's no need to pre-cook the cabbage and you can bake at 350*
