AUGUST MEETING; Amish Half Dolls
Our speaker for the evening will be Cherie Baldner.  Our program will be first on the agenda with the business meeting after.  Jeri will also demonstrate a neat board basting technique that she uses.  Come and enjoy!
…will be brought to you by Betty Boreman, Janet McFarland, and Effie Troyer.  Thank you ladies, very much!
July attendance; 54 people were at the picnic, 4 guests and 50 members.  Did any of you talk to Bea Croston?  Bea was a long time member of Tree City; it was good to see her visiting!
Cost for members is $155. Non-members can sign up right now but will be on a wait list until September to make sure members get the classes they want. After September the signup is open to everybody.  Check out the wonderful classes and get yourself a brochure at the sign in table.  It is your choice to stay at the hotel or commute each day.  Saturday evening the program is open to all TCQ members free of charge.
The 2014 fall quilt camp at Ripley will be October 12-17.  If anyone is interested or has questions, please
check it out at
It is time to check all the quilts you are going to enter into the September show and make sure they have a sleeve, if needed, and they are clean.  Not sure how to clean your quilts?  Many times, soaking large quilts in the tub with cool water and some ORVUS soap will do the trick.  Soak and rinse a few times.  Carry your quilts on a towel or sheet outside.  Lay the quilt outside on a sheet, cover with a second sheet and allow them to air dry.  Flip them several times to make sure they are completely dry.
Go over all your quilts with a lint roller to remove all pet hair.
As you are washing and rolling, look for stray threads and get them clipped.
Check you binding corners….stitch them closed.
Pin a cover over your labels
Make sure you have given a list of quilts to Dot Anderson at the August meeting so the committee can have an idea of the number of quilts there will be to hang.
Handwork Workshop: Friday, August 1 from 9 – 11:50.  Sally will be doing a demo with a hand crank sewing machine that uses a shuttle.
The Dayton International Peace Museum invites you to participate in the activities and events of its current exhibit, "Peace Labyrinth:  Quilting the Golden Rule." Please join us-- and share this information with your quilting friends and organizations.  Thank you.

An inspiring exhibition of more than 17 quilts
Based on the use of the Golden Rule in 17 world religions
Designed and quilted by Janet Bear McTavish of Minnesota
On display through September 14
Dayton International Peace Museum, 208 W. Monument Avenue, Dayton, OH
Workshops; We currently have 14 members signed up for the 2 workshops.  These are free classes in exchange for you volunteering hours at the quilt show.  The sign-up sheet and pictures of the quilts will be available at the picnic.  Non-members will be able to sign up for these classes.  $20 for the Magic Square and $30 for Storm at Sea.
****Please fill out your quilt registration form and get it into Dot ASAP.   The committee is anxious to see how many quilts the show might have displayed.
TCQ Boutique will again be available to members during the show.  You can sell sewn/quilt related items with 10% going to TCQ.  Please, no fabric sales as this competes with our vendors.
Sell your raffle tickets!  This is an easy way for each member to help market our show.  As the show has changed where it has been for years, it is very important for everyone to participate.
Janet McFarland has a signup sheet and is looking for volunteers to assist her in selling raffle tickets at the Amish Quilt Show a couple weeks before our own show.  Please see Janet if you can help for a couple hours.
