TIP OF THE MONTH:
Machine Quilting
If you are having problems
with threads breaking, perhaps the following tips will help. Quilts can be basted too tightly; especially
if you have a system of 2 poles holding your quilt. Loosen up a little
bit….
There is a right and wrong
side to the batting. If you are getting
batting punched through with every stitch, it is on the wrong side and making it
tough for the needle to slide through.
Double check your needle
size, use a NEW needle, and re-thread your machine.
Hope these tips help with
your work. Have fun!
WORKSHOPS and TRIPS
The Harmony Handbag
Workshop is Saturday, October 27th, 9-3 with set-up starting at
8:30. Bring your sewing machine, usual supplies, cut out pattern pieces, lunch,
and something to share. Since I have so much fabric, I am asking for $5 instead
of a yard of fabric. Any questions please call me at 330-345-5210. Nancy

CIVIL
WAR
Did you know that we are in the
Sesquicentennial commemoration of our country's Civil War? That's just a fancy
way of saying it's been 150 years since the Civil War. This commemoration will
last for 3 years. There are some very beautiful Civil War replica fabrics in
the stores. Why not choose to make a
quilt and learn about our country’s history at the same time? Visit a battle field, museum, or historic
house. Learn something about Ohio ’s role in the Civil
War. Quilts and quilters played a part
in the war whether they were sending quilts with their soldiers, sending quilts
to the hospitals, using quilts as signals on the Underground Railroad, and I’m
sure in other ways. This is a good time
to contemplate our history and make a quilt in remembrance.

NEORQC
It is election time and the Nominating

2013. 2) Ask for volunteers. If anyone
is interested, even the slightest bit, please get their name and contact
information and send it to us and we will contact them. 3) Ask the person responsible for your
guild's newsletter to put the above information in every month through January
2013.
