Minutes of February Meeting

February 14, 2011
Minutes
Call to order by president, Mabel Stocker. She thanked the refreshment committee: Susan Nielson, Danette Ferriman, and Betty Boreman.
If you have additions or corrections to the membership book, please see Jane Richardson. The changes will then be put in the newsletter. Mabel read the Aquarius quilting sign of the zodiac.
Meeting date corrections were made: The March meeting is on 3/14/11, not the 7th; the November meeting is on 11/14/11, not the 7th.
Birthdays were announced by Dorothy Pearson, Sunshine Committee.
Secretary’s report was approved as posted in the newsletter.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Jane Richardson. Money from the retreat was deposited, bringing the total in the treasury to $4,256.34. Some will be spent on the retreat expenses.
Thank you notes from the parents of the first boy and first girl born at Wooster Hospital were read for the baby quilts that had been donated.
Committee Reports:
Raffle quilt committee member Jane Richardson announced that they will be starting to sew on a log cabin Christmas quilt for the raffle next week. They are making great progress.
Quilt Show committee still needs members and a chair.
NOEOQC A sign up to help with the meeting to be hosted here was passed around. Help is needed with morning goodies, the pot luck, greeters and items for raffle baskets, with the proceeds to benefit the guild, people to organize the food and drink. The meeting starts at 10am. On Saturday, March 5. Quilts can be displayed, and there will be show and tell.
Trips and Workshops There will be 2 Saturday and 2 evening workshops and a trip to Mt Vernon for shopping and a meal. All will be listed in the newsletter. The cost will be $5.00 at the time of sign up. The first one is the expandable bag class.
Retreat Committee Jane was available to take registrations during the meeting. Mary Lou Nuzum showed 2 examples of the pattern that is offered in Mary Huey’s class, with very different looks and sizes.
No old business.
New Business Somewhere Sewing is a new fabric shop close to Holmesville and Millersburg. There business cards were available, and they have a web site.
The Amish Country Quilt Show has been cancelled this year. They hope to have it going again next year at the Buckeye Conference center.
The Sewing and Quilting Expo is at the IX Center in Cleveland on March 24 to March 26
The Program was on choosing fabrics and color, by Jerri Fickes and Vicky Hartzler.
