Happy Summer Fellow TCQers,
You know the old saying “Watch what you ask for, you just might get it”? Well we asked and asked for the rain to end and for our summer to begin and boy did it! The heat has been miserable. BUT the good part of that is I hope you stayed in and worked on your quilts for the quilt show. The show will be here before you know it and it is going to be a great one.
I am getting ready for a trip to Florida, I leave July 26th and will be back on August 8th. I planned the dates this time, not my husband and so I WILL be here for the August meeting on the 12th. Speaking of that our guest speaker this month will come from a new quilt shop in Loudonville. It is called The Alabaster Mouse. It is located next door to Buzzards Shoe store and is more than just a quilt shop. They carry yarn, needle work, collectables and gifts. I told them that they can vend if they wish and they will be doing that! So bring your allowance so that you can buy some of their beautiful fabrics!
I was made aware of this new shop during a retreat at the Millersburg Hotel where I learned how to make Black and white thread portraits with Teri Tope. It was a great weekend and the Hotel Millersburg Restaurant and Hotel were marvelous. If you ever get a chance to attend an event there I highly recommend it. Anyway, Marie White the owner of The Alabaster Mouse came and set up some vending and we were able to purchase her fabrics. She carries a good variety of batiks and reproduction fabrics. Also modern fabrics.
I hope that your summer is going well and that you are finding a balance between enjoying the season and sewing.

I just received a letter and some flyers from NEORQC with information about the 2020 NEORQC Getaway for February 14-16, 2020 in Boardman, Ohio. The Getaway is called "Quilting is My Super Power", and Laura Nolletti is one of the instructors. Registration begins August 1, 2019. Do you think we should send a separate announcement, or include it in the next newsletter? I have brochures to take to the next meeting. There is information on the internet at www.neorqconline.orgwith the class descriptions. Judy Mallonn (I had forwarded above earlier. Thanks Ruth)
I would just remind members to keep working on their
challenges and quilts for the show! It's less than a year away!

Following, from Mary Mahoney on show committee, about entering items from the various classes offered by the Tree City. Quilt Guild
It's a good idea to keep a list of the quilts you would like to submit for our 2020 quilt show. Please note as well, if that quilt was made from a workshop you took with our guild. We do have a category for workshop quilts and we'd like to keep them together at the show. Here is a list of the 2018 workshops to help you remember what might qualify in this category:Pat Hall's Rug classKay Nixon's Fabric bowl workshopLaura Noletti's Convex Illusion classStacie Miller's Market Bag & Mary Mahoney's No Sew Gift Bag classLaura Noletti's Paper Pieced Animal pattern workshopShirley Roger's 5 yard quilt
