President's February Greeting
Good Morning Quilters!
There are a few good things that I can say about our recent cold weather. First, the ground is finally frozen and my dogs are not dragging mud in any more! YAY! I haven’t been able to go shopping and I am saving a lot of money, but the down side of that is my stash is taking a hit. BUT the most important thing is I am getting some of my quilting projects completed!
At the January meeting my daughter Krisha, standing in for me explained the first challenge of the year and passed out brown paper bags to those who want to participate. If you were not at the meeting you may use your own paper bag, please don’t feel like you are left out. The explanation of the start of this challenge will also be in the news letter, and the rules for completing the challenge will be announced at the February meeting.
I have decided to take a step back from making dog beds for a while. So please, if you were one of my faithful scrap suppliers, try making them yourself! All you need to do is fill an old pillow case about ½ to ⅔ full and sew it shut. Bring them to the meeting and I will still deliver them to the Wayne County Dog Shelter.
The weather for February’s meeting at this point looks OK. But if you do not feel safe on the roads or your health could be compromised please do not feel obligated to come. Our safety and health comes first. If there is horrible weather and I feel we should not have a meeting I will send out an email Monday and call those without email, so please check your email and phone messages before heading out the door.
Stay in, stay warm and most important…….QUILT!
Happy quilting to you

2019 Tree City Quilters Ugly Fabric Challenge
This Challenge will start at the February meeting and finish for the June Meeting. To participate in this challenge you need to get that one fabric out of your stash. You know the one I am talking about. That FABRIC. The one you saw that you HAD to have. You bought it, you took it home and added it to your stash. And there it sat.
Now you get into your stash to look at fabrics for a new project and you pick up that FABRIC! And you sigh and say “what was I thinking when I bought this?, JUST WHAAAT! It doesn’t go with anything, the colors are awful, its just not my taste.”
Take a yard of that fabric and place it in a brown paper bag and bring it to the next meeting. All of the brown paper bags will be placed on a table. Everyone participating will choose a bag (not their own) and make a quilt using that ugly fabric. The rules for the making of your quilt will be read at the next meeting.
