 President's January Greeting

I hope that 2019 will bring you good health, happiness and lots and lots of quilting! This year I hope to make a fun year, an informative year and that we can all get know each other just a little better. We have gained so many new members over the last year even I don’t recognize or can put a name to all the faces.
I am encouraging everyone to get involved in some aspect of our guild. Be it teaching a class, attending a class, volunteering for special projects or something as simple as participating in show and tell. The more you do the more you will feel like you fit in. Believe me, you can not help but fit in with this great group. We can use a few more people to help with the Christmas Party, and you can ALWAYS ask to help with any committee. Many hands make light work.
As I said at one of the last meetings, we will not be having refreshments this year. We still will however have some social time before and after the meeting and program. If you really feel that you need to eat something during the meeting, you may bring a snack. Drinks are always welcome. But Please clean up after yourselves.
This church has been very good over the years to us. Accommodating our meetings, classes and workshops. All they really ask for this is for us to leave the room in the condition we found it. To that end, I need 2 people each month to stay briefly after the meeting to make sure we leave the place clean. I neglected to get a sign up for this, so I am hoping that for January I can get 2 people to email or call me and say that they will take care of January. Please don’t assume that , ”I am sure someone will take care of this.”

As was discussed in one of the last meetings, we have decided to send the address book to the membership as an electronic file that you can open on your computer or tablet. I seem to have received a positive response on this. I do understand that not everyone has a computer or wants an electronic copy. For those people please let Barb Byler know so she knows how many booklets to have printed. This will save the guild over $200.00 per year in printing. Please consider receiving your copy in this method

Looking forward to serving as your President this coming year, it will be a lot more fun with FULL participation. Get involved, it is YOUR guild.  Kim

Since taking on task of writing newsletter I've wanted to add some of my own "Ruth's thoughts".  Here it goes.
I sure enjoyed the Christmas Party.  Lots of good food and fellowship.  Congratulations to Becky Hamilton winner of the ornament challenge with a beautiful beaded wall hanging...can't imagine the hours that went into that.  All the entries were lovely and will make wonderful gifts or added home decor.  Shirley Rodgers was the wild and crazy host along with the Christmas Party committee.  Never experienced that Shirley before!  So much fun.

I found the most recent Nancy's Notions magazine in my mail box  Some interesting items such as TrueSharp Power Sharpener for your rotary blades at $59.  Might be worth while?  Also some lovely Chantrell botanicals fabric I might need to have; and an Accuquilt with a 14" wide bed that you can use two dies at the same time.  The price is $599.99 but it does plug in!  I have an original Accuquilt which I like as easy on hands and wrists.  January brings new resolutions and new hope for a great year.  In 2018 Kay challenged us to spread our wings, try something new, and was a gracious president.   Your "humble" newsletter editor, Ruth  Bishop
