Meeting: April 10, 2017; 7:00 pm
Parkview Church of Christ
1912 Burbank Road
Wooster, OH 44691
PRESIDENT’S GREETING: April
Happy April Tree City Quilters! I really enjoyed Mary Huey last month. She has a lot of inspiration to get one motivated in our quilting world. This month I have asked Jeri Fickes to demonstrate her easy way of doing flying geese blocks. I love this method and they always come our perfect. Then I would like people to bring what they use in their quilting studio that was not intended for the quilting world. You may have needed to go to the hardware store to buy it…..that should be fun!
I have gotten many notes from members that are finishing those UFO’s. It will be great seeing what members have finished.
In Stitches, Sarah

2018 QUILT SHOW
The Quilt Show committee met and has begun work on the 2018 Quilt Show! Two challenges have been designed for the show:
Applique Challenge - Floral Applique Item of your choice. Hand or machine applique. Quilter's interpretation. (The planning team reserves the right to split the entries into more categories as needed.)
Garden Party Challenge- Floral themed item. The pattern and/or fabric should have a floral design. (Again, the team reserves the right to split entries into additional categories.) Quiltmakers' interpretation.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Anyone that attended the March meeting heard and saw demonstrated a trick by Mary Huey to release heaving creases in your fabric. WOW! It really works! Hang your fabric up, spray the creases and let it dry. Creases just fall out of the fabric…..no ironing! (I didn’t even hang it in the bathroom…just hung it in my basement sewing room and sprayed away)
WORKSHOPS
The Monthly Ongoing Hand Workers will meet on the first Friday of each month from 9:00 to 11:50 at Parkview Christian Church, in the Fireside Room. Meeting dates for 2017: April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, September 1, October 6, November 3, and December 1. (These dates are subject to change) Join us and bring your handwork of any kind (no sewing machines) a small snack to share, and show and tell. Guests are always welcome.
