September Newsletter

TREE CITY QUILT GUILD SCHEDULED TO DEMO
at Wayne County Fair, Grange Rotunda Building
Wednesday September 12. 2018
From 1:00 to 2:30pm
The theme this year is "Show and Tell".  Need members to show and share how their quilts were made etc. and suggest gadgets or skills/shortcuts that would help beginners.    My favorite part of our meetings is show and tell and this would be easy for most of us to just talk about our quilts.  Would give those in the audience also chance to share a quilt memory.  Also want to give out five community quilts to those present for someone in need.

Please note that the October Hand Workers will be on second Friday, Oct. 12,
 from 9 to noon.
The Monthly Ongoing Hand Workers will meet on the first Friday of each month from 9:00 to 11:50 at Parkview Christian Church, in the Fireside Room.  Meeting dates for 2018: Jan 5,
Feb. 2, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1 July 6, Aug. 3, Sept 7, Oct. 12, Nov. 2,and Dec 7.  (These dates are subject to change)  Join us and bring your handwork of any kind (no sewing machines) a small snack to share, and show and tell.  Guests are always welcome.  Contact Sally Kitchen at 330-345-5702 with any questions.

                                                   President's August Greeting

      HAPPY AUGUST !

August already!  Where does the time go?  School will be starting soon, vacations will be over and life will take on its regular routine.

Our picnic was a huge success with "Thanks" due to Betty Boreman and her committee.  The food was excellent and plentiful.  Mother Nature even decided to give us a beautiful evening for our gathering.  Congratulations to our challenge winners, table prize winners and the table winners of the 2 1/2 strips.  If you need a tootsie roll fix, see Jeri Fickes as she won that big jug of tootsie rolls!

Our refreshment committee for  August will be Pat Hall, Mary Mahoney and Jennifer Babcock.

We have a couple of workshops scheduled:

Aug. 11, 8:30 to 4.  Shirley Rodgers will be teaching the "5 Yard Quilt".  If you signed up but have not gotten your instruction sheet, give Shirley a call.

Aug. 25, 9 - 3. Quilt Assembly.  We will be putting some of the quilts together with the challenge blocks that you have been doing this year.  Bring your machine and some neutral thread.  If you prefer to cut, bring your favorite cutting tool. I will have a large cutting mat there. I can give you more details at the meeting.

At the June meeting, we discussed the bylaws and making some change.  I will have the recommendations for you at the August meeting.  Please give them careful consideration and thought.

Until our meeting on August 13th ---- Stay well, be happy and happy quilting!    Kay

Secretary Note:  The June minutes were attached as a pdf.  Please let me know if unable to download or if you prefer minutes in body of newsletter.  Because of picnic had no official July minutes.
